UAE MILLENNIUM YEAR FACTS

UAE MILLENNIM YEAR CELEBRATIONS
The "MILLENNIUM CELEBRATIONS" in the UAE, like everything in the Emirates, were big, spectacular, and meant to impress the rest of the world! Everywhere you looked, there were extremely elaborate decorations, shows, concerts with world-famous stars, and horse races with utopian prize money. They even went so far as to rename their most promising horse worldwide "DUBAI MILLENNIUM" (Note **) to have a national contender for the race!
AND ==> DUBAI MILLENNIUM (aka YAAZAR) won the race! ...

RELATION from MILLENNIM Year to the CUP EDITION MILLLENIUM BEETLE
The local industry also had to get involved, and so the local VW importers commissioned VW to build the "CUP EDITION MILLENNIUM BEETLE," which has been a hot topic in the Beetle community ever since.
An eye-catcher, surpassed only by the RSI - I assume.
Which of the two – the RSI or the MILLENNIUM BEETLE – was developed first and then "sold" to the Emiratis is something only VW themselves can answer. There are strong arguments for both cars simultaneously... but based on pictures and reports, the Millennium Beetle might have the front runner.

WIKIPEDIA - Race Horse "YAAZAR / DUBAI MILLENNIUM"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai_Millennium
Dubai Millennium was born on March 2, 1996, at Dalham Hall Stud. His sire was Mr. Prospector - son of Seeking The Gold, and his dam was the Prix de Pomone winner Colorado Dancer. Besides Dubai Millennium, Seeking The Gold sired 27 other Group 1 winners, including Pleasant Home, Jazil, and Bob and John. Colorado Dancer was a daughter of Fall Aspen, a highly successful broodmare who produced eight Group winners, including the Preakness Stakes winner Timber Country.
Dubai Millennium was initially trained by David Loder at Newmarket and ridden by Frankie Dettori in all but one of his races.
Note **
... Originally named Yaazer (which means "white gazelle"), Sheikh Mohammed, owner of Godolphin, renamed the stallion Dubai Millennium after he was identified as the most promising of his two-year-old colts.

"The Emirates, and Dubai in particular, know how to celebrate.
The Millennium Year was, of course, another opportunity to show the world what such a young and small country is capable of achieving!"
