CUP EDITION
Gallery - CUP BEETLE
In 1999, a total of 40 New Beetle vehicles were converted by VW Motorsport for Volkswagen's planned "New Beetle Cup". An original New Beetle body shell served as the basis, which was reinforced by the Heggemann company using a a safety cell.
This was done to push the marketing of the NEW BEETLE in Europe. Same already was successfully practiced with other models such as the POLO, Golf or the competition with the RENAULT R5 Cup.
They also liked to rely on well-known people such as the rapper "SMUDO" from the "The Fantastic Four" ... see pictures!
