  • VW employees in the UAE mentioned that most of the cars were in the UAE & Saudi Arabia, with a few going to Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain & Qatar.

  • The project costs in the year 2000 were
    147,000 DM (75,000 US$)

TECHNOLOGY

  • Engine: 1.8 Turbo - 150hp (at the time, this was the most powerful engine available with type approval in Germany)

  • "4 Motion" from Golf 4 V6 with electro-hydraulic Haldex

  • Due to insufficient performance, the ECUs were subsequently tuned to 180 hp with VAG approval and TÜV compliance.

  • Transmission: 6-speed manual transmission

  • Wheels: VW RACING 9X18" - ET10 /235/40ZR-18

  • Exhaust: Single pipe without end silencer, with original E1 number & type certificate
    Body Kit: By RSI Beetle

  • Seats: KOENIG - with Cup Edition logo branding

  • Suspension: Bilstein, VW Racing springs

OTHERS

  • ECU Software of the AVC Engine was upgraded to 180 HP by ABT Tuning due to too Low Power complains!

  • At the point where the 2nd exhaust pipe exits the RSI, the reversing light was fitted.

  • Spare wheel in original size

  • Fully black color interior

  • VIN sticker on B-Pillar is in  Arabic language

  • PR code for engine on PR list in car is printed as APH type

  • However, In all cars that were checked, an AVC type motor is found to be installed

Time-based documentaries - RSI - CUP BEETLE & DUBAI BEETLE *

The Cup Edition Millennium Beetle – also known as the "DUBAI BEETLE" – featured many special parts that, while giving it the RSI look, differed significantly in detail from the RSI Beetle, the Cup Beetle, and other New Beetle models. Some very distinctive features are listed here for illustration... the top row shows the cars in the three colors produced at the time, all still in their original condition!
