One of 80 cars built by VW in Puebla for the United Arab Emirates.

According to information from owners and emails, it is suspected that around 15 cars, some in terrible condition, are still somewhere in junkyards or backyards in the Middle East.
As is well known, only "3 CARS" still exist in original condition, with service papers and matching numbers. Registered in Germany and with TÜV certification, only this car and one other beautiful car in Spain.

A dream turned to reality

This "MILLENNIUM CUP EDITION" Beetle has been in German ownership since 2008. It was purchased, registered, and driven in Dubai and imported to Germany in 2010.
Ever since first seeing it in Abu Dhabi in 2001 upon its arrival at the Al & Son's car warehouse in Mussaffah, it has been a lifelong dream!
Imported from the UAE, the car received a full inspection from the German TÜV and has only been driven approximately 200 km since.
(Current TÜV till 09/2027).

Known facts and background information about the Dubai Beetle (Cup Edition Millennium)*

  • Original paint (…with unpainted front and rear spoilers – there are probably no more cars left.) This is due to the fact that there are very high curbs, high speed bumps, and sometimes non-standard entrances and exits in shopping malls, parking garages, and many other buildings in the Emirates, which repeatedly become a trap for these cars and other sports cars!

  • Original stickers on the doors – one of the problems – the Dubai Road Authority (TÜV), which didn't allow stickers on private cars and they had to be removed :) ... see TÜV report
This rule obviously didn't apply to sheiks, and a car with stickers is certainly a sign of a prominent previous owner :(

  • Original service booklets

  • Matching Numbers - Original VIN ID according to VW VIN data list of all cars built

  • Original engines without tuning

  • Original suspension - Bilstein yellow dampers & VW Racing blue springs (… by H&R)

  • Original Body Kit (fenders, side skirts, front spoiler & rear apron, roof spoiler, rear spoiler (RSI type))

  • Original rims - with VW Racing lettering

  • Original exhaust - VW Racing - with E1 approval and clearance

  • Aluminum cover cap for the vase holder hole behind the steering wheel

  • Standard Road Authority stickers for the Salik toll

  • etc...

Known facts and background information about the Dubai Beetle (Cup Edition Millennium)*

A wealth of images and lists detailing the visually identifiable equipment—compiled following the presentation of the prototype (which served as the basis for subsequent series production) at the new Al Naboodah Showroom for Middle Eastern dealers, as well as at the Dubai Motor Show.

For the Cup Edition Millennium Series, several highly specialized parts were installed—components that can be found ONLY on these specific Atos models. They are not derived from other production series or racing models, but were built exclusively and solely for these specific Beetles (diffuser grille, reverse light grille bracket, aluminum flower vase hole cover, front and rear seats featuring the Millennium logo, sports suspension springs and Bilstein dampers—with springs supplied by H&R—etc.).

There is an abundance of evidence and individuals who can confirm the conversion work performed in Puebla—including those who personally worked on the cars there—as well as VW documents that surfaced as recently as May 2026! Further information regarding this can be found on the FAQ and Media pages.

Of the 81 cars originally built (including one prototype), it appears—based on sightings and correspondence—that only about 10 remain in circulation in a reasonably presentable condition. Of these, only two are currently known within the enthusiast community in Europe; a third—a silver Beetle that had long been sought after—has recently surfaced and, as of the current date (June 1, 2026), is reported to be in good condition. Further details will follow once its condition can be definitively verified!

The remaining sighted cars have undergone severe to extreme, radical modifications—such as custom-upholstered leather seats, replacement seats, aftermarket paint jobs, and various special add-ons. These range from different engines, parts, wheels, and spoilers—including engine variants producing up to 650 hp—to complete conversions into dedicated racing vehicles!

The extreme heat, the unavailability of spare parts, the "tuning craze," and illicit street racing—as well as local vehicle inspection regulations in the UAE—have, over the years, literally destroyed these cars.

According to the Puebla Pilot Department, the RSI parts—which were apparently already on hand—had to be extensively modified in numerous areas to accommodate the different vehicle platforms utilized (all-wheel drive vs. two-wheel drive)!

Furthermore, there are significant differences between these cars and the *Renn Cup* models; the latter received a multitude of specialized parts and additional modifications for competitive racing use—components that are incompatible with the *Cup Edition Millennium* models!
