One of 80 cars ever built by VW "Pilote Department" in Puebla, exclusively for the United Arab Emirates. Information from sightings, owners, and emails estimate around 15 of these cars being left over – some in catastrophic condition – are still located in scrapyards somewhere in the Middle East. Of these, only 3 are known to be in original condition, with service records and matching numbers. Registered in Germany and with a German TÜV inspection certificate, there is only this one car - another nice car in Spain is also known to exist.

A dream turned to reality
This "MILLENNIUM CUP EDITION" Beetle has been in German ownership since 2008. It was purchased, registered, and driven in Dubai and imported to Germany in 2010.
Ever since first seeing it in Abu Dhabi in 2001 upon its arrival at the Al & Son's car warehouse in Mussaffah, it has been a lifelong dream!
Imported from the UAE, the car received a full inspection from the German TÜV and has only been driven approximately 200 km since.
(Current TÜV till 09/2027).

One of two Complete cars worldwide

** The term "COMPLETE" refers, for example, to the following points:
-
Original paint (…with unpainted front and rear spoilers – there are probably no more cars left.) This is due to the fact that there are very high curbs, high speed bumps, and sometimes non-standard entrances and exits in shopping malls, parking garages, and many other buildings in the Emirates, which repeatedly become a trap for these cars and other sports cars!
-
Original stickers on the doors – these were always removed during painting and couldn't be replaced. They had to be removed at the vehicle inspection (TÜV) – "Road Authority Dubai" – because stickers weren't allowed on private cars! ... see the TÜV report under "Problem Cars "! Of course, there was an exception for princes/sheiks :)
-
Original engines - untuned!
-
Matching Numbers - Original VIN ID - can be proven! - Service history - Engine number...
-
Original spoiler types and complete body kit
-
Original rims - with VW Racing lettering
-
Original exhaust - VW Racing - with E1 marking
-
Original service booklets
-
Aluminum cover cap for the vase holder hole behind the steering wheel
-
Standard, distinctive Road Authority stickers from Salik
-
.. .and much more...
Known facts and background information about the Dubai Beetle (Cup Edition Millennium)*
-
Unsold production-model New Beetles were pulled from the assembly line in Puebla and converted in the Pilot Department into the "Millennium Cup Edition Beetles" discussed here.
-
The engineers who carried out the conversions there consistently state that exactly 80 units were produced.
-
Accompanying this information are photographs and a list of visually identifiable features—specifications that were refined for subsequent series production following the presentation of one of these prototypes at the new Al Naboodah showroom for Middle Eastern dealers, as well as at the Dubai Motor Show.
-
There is an abundance of evidence - and individuals - confirming that these conversions took place in Puebla!
-
Further details can be found on the FAQ page and the Media page.
-
Of the 80 cars originally built, it is estimated (based on correspondence and owner reports) that no more than 15 remain in circulation today in reasonably presentable condition. Of these, only two are currently known within the enthusiast community in Europe—plus a silver Beetle that has long been a known entity, and which—as of the current date (December 7, 2025)—is reported to be in very good condition. Further details on this car will follow shortly!
-
These three known examples remain in their original factory condition—meaning they retain their:
Original paintwork, decals, exterior trim, body kits, wheels, and interiors; they also come with complete service records, feature "matching numbers," and are, of course, accident-free! -
Approximately ten additional cars exist that have undergone extensive modifications—such as custom-upholstered seats, bespoke paint schemes, and various aftermarket additions—including engine swaps, custom components, aftermarket wheels, spoilers, and engine upgrades producing up to 650 horsepower!
-
Over the years, a combination of extreme heat, a scarcity of spare parts, the "tuning craze," illicit street racing, and conversions into purebred racing machines—along with the strict vehicle inspection regulations in the UAE—have quite literally destroyed many of these cars.
-
In the Emirates—alongside the cherished pastimes of falconry and camel racing—one of the most popular hobbies is commissioning professional specialists in the USA to transform cars, dune buggies, motorcycles, and ATVs into veritable "hell-machines." The motto "The more power, the better" always serves as the foundation for this endeavor. Read more...
-
A wealth of documentation, contacts, suppliers, and other evidence confirms that these cars were a VW project—built with the assistance of the company's own design department, its in-house tuners, and standard suppliers—including bodywork from Austria, seats from KÖNIG, and various other trusted VW partners—to create what was internally referred to as a "KFA car." (...To this day, no one has been able to decipher
"KFA Car" though it is suspected that the acronym stands for something akin to "Group Vehicle") -
According to the Puebla pilot department, the RSI parts—which were apparently already planned or in existence—had to undergo extensive modifications in many areas due to the differing platforms of the two cars (all-wheel drive vs. two-wheel drive).
-
Furthermore, there are significant differences compared to the CUP BEETLE models; these racing variants were equipped with a great many specialized components that are incompatible with—and do not fit—either the Millennium Beetle or the RSI.
note 1 *
The issued certificates show the PR codes of the production Beetle models, but not a single PR code that would indicate any of the many upgrade parts installed at the VW factory, which would point to any modification activity!
note 2 *
Employees of the company asked that their names not be published because they feared legal consequences from the company.
